[4] Since April 2016, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, northern Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia SAA have been in force. Croatia previously had an SAA, but it died out when it joined the EU in 2013. In 2005, the EU`s relations with the Western Balkans were transferred from the `External Relations` policy area to the `Enlargement` policy area. Since 2015, Albania, North Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia have been officially recognised as candidates for accession. Cooperation focuses on a number of specific areas, including: on 6 November, the European Commission published its progress reports on candidate and potential candidate countries (including Serbia), as well as its document on the Enlargement Strategy 2007-2008.
